Short Stories of Strange Things in Polk County

Scott McArthur, Monmouth historian and retired lawyer, will be the
featured speaker at the monthly, program meeting of the Polk County Historical
Society Saturday, April 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Polk County Museum at
the Polk County Fairgrounds at Rickreall.

 McArthur, a 49-year member of the Polk County Historical Society, is
the author of five local history books on the Pacific Northwest.  He
has been a speaker at historical gatherings in the Willamette Valley
and Southwestern Washington.
     His topic: “Short Stories of Strange Things in Polk County” covering subjects such as: “The Hanging of Adam Wimple,” “Polk County’s Coal Industry”, “The Fight Over Highway 99W,” and “152 years: Polk County’s Oldest College”.   

     Admission is free to the public.  Refreshments will be served.
