Annual Family Day
March 18 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
The Polk County Museum invites everyone to a free day of activities on Saturday March 18th, 1:30PM to 4:00PM–rain or shine.
This annual Family Day is our way of repaying Polk County for the support and encouragement that has been shown to us this past year. The event is filled with activities for young and old. There will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, flintknapping, spinning and weaving.
Civil War Enactors from our local 1st Oregon Volunteer Infantry unit will be setting up outside to demonstrate their equipment including their cannon which they fire off many times during the afternoon.
Children can participate in scavenger hunts, balloon animals, headstone rubbings and operating an old-time mechanical bank. We will be providing a photograph of each child who wants one as a souvenir of their visit.
There will be a demonstration of butter churning and participation is welcome. Biscuits and jam washed down with apple cider will be served free to everyone all day. Come to enjoy learning a bit of Polk County History.
The Polk County Museum is located on the south end of the County Fair Ground parking lot next to Farrol’s/Rockin Rogers restaurant.
Come and view a sample of our video library and the listing of dvd’s available for purchase.
